#EmiTogether: Gina Ko, on how the pandemic has brought on a deeper sense of appreciation
This week on #EmiTogether, we have Gina Ko, Founder of The Ko Team at Triplemint Real Estate, based in New York City. Gina lives in NYC with her husband, who she met in December of 2012, and her 3 year old son. “Although I did postpone our first date, from the first day we met I believed there was something we could build together. So, it’s only been about 2,700+ days or about 4 million seconds!”
Here’s Gina, on how the pandemic and SIP has brought on a new sense of appreciation for her family, close and far.
In light of what’s going on with COVID-19, WFH, and Social Distancing, what are some new routines or rituals that you’ve introduced as a couple or as a family?
Currently, as my partner and I WFH and we have a 3yo, we’ve been cooking almost 99% of our own meals. There have been moments where we give in and order delivery. PC (Pre-Covid), we used to order a lot more during the week, but we realized my husband is an outstanding cook and our son LOVES to cook with him! So, I think, if possible, we would like to continue this way of eating for multiple reasons.
What are you doing intentionally for you and your partner to stay sane during this challenging period?
I have started using Emi and love how it gives me a moment to continue my morning gratitude routine to extend into thinking about my relationship with my husband deeper. Besides that, my husband and I have been taking more moments than ever before to discuss how we are parenting, partnering and what we are seeing during this time to improve our relationship with each other as well as with our son and soon to be second child (due June 9!)
Can you inspire us with something positive that came out of this situation?
Possibly the most positive thing that has come out of this is my appreciation for my family and how present I want to be for them. Taking the time and REALLY watching my son use his body and mind, watching him LITERALLY grow in front of me day after day has allowed me to appreciate what we’ve created. Watching my husband be a parent and partner in a way I never realized he would be has been really precious to me and knowing I chose someone like this has given me a new sense of love for him. Lastly, not being able to be physically close with the rest of my immediate and extended family has led me to hope for more family gatherings and enjoying family time more often.
What are 3 things you want your children to say about the relationship you have with your partner?
1. It is organic: It’s ever growing and developing and reshapes throughout the years and experiences
2. It is kind and compassionate: It comes from a place of being sympathetic and understanding
3. It is fierce: Nothing will break it, even if it tries.
Let us know if there are any initiatives your company is working on during this period that you would like to let our community know
Triplemint Real Estate has always been on the right side of the community. When the pandemic started to show its face, leadership came together and wanted to support our client base most in need. In the early days of SIP in NYC, we launched the Rental Fee Relief Program to alleviate some financial strain on our tenant clients. Those who qualify can get a discount of up to 30% on their Triplemint Rental Broker Fee and Healthcare Workers automatically qualify for the highest tier discount of 30%. It is our way of saying “we are here for you” and “thank you” for being part of the Triplemint family. For more information, you can contact me at email@example.com
